That apart, students who have applied to study abroad or are planning to apply can use this time to prepare their student applications and enhance them to craft their profile in a way that will appeal to the admissions department of the universities that they are aiming for. Here is how you can do it:

Know your interest: The students are required to answer fundamental questions on their interest, reasons for choosing a particular subject, their career ambitions. So, it is very important for students to be aware of their interest and identify the career they want to pursue. This will help them answer these questions in the application with conviction. For the student, this will help them make informed decisions. They can choose the right college based on factors such as the number of international students in the college, their placement record and the student to faculty ratio.

Do your research: Choosing the right college and university can be a challenge for both students and their parents alike. There can be an information overload, but you can make the right choice provided you do a planned research. You should be clear about your priorities in terms of where you want to study, the subject you choose and what you wish to achieve. You can visit college websites, and get the guidance of professionals. You can even talk to teachers and alumni to analyze whether the college will be right for you.

Mention your extracurricular activities: It is crucial to mention your extracurricular activities because the universities will assess more than just your academic grades. This will portray you as a well-rounded person. You will have to mention activities in terms of sports activities or creative activities. This will help showcase your non-academic skill sets.

Fine tune your essays and SOP: It is a good idea to work on these aspects of your application in advance. While some universities offer key points to cover in your essays, others are interested in knowing about your goals and reasons for choosing a particular program in your SOP. The SOP should ideally reflect your personality. You can work with your counsellor to ensure your SOP does this and is convincing to the university authorities.
