Canada PNPs in focus for offering PR Visas

The Canada Provincial Nominee Programs have been very active in the recent weeks. These specifically include nominee streams in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Collectively these have offered 2,500 plus invitations for Canada PR Visas through a provincial nomination. This is for skilled workers with a range of professional experience and skills.

The Canada PNPs offer 2 territories and 9 provinces in Canada the power to choose immigrants who fulfil the priorities and needs of the labour local market. These have now evolved to the extent that their target for admissions for 2019 is 61,000 new immigrants.

Over the next 3 years, Canada may welcome around 213,000 fresh immigrants with PR Visas through PNPs itself. IRCC offers each territory and province a yearly allocation for Canada PR nominations. This is distributed through streams that are customized to meet the needs of their specific labour markets.

Together, these 11 territories and provinces that participate in Canada PNPs have 70 plus nomination streams. These range from having a focus on overseas graduates from local Universities to workers having skills listed as in-demand in the province.

Each PNP also has minimum 1 enhanced stream for nomination that aims at federal Express Entry system candidates. This is the major source of skilled overseas workers for Canada.

Several provinces also have multiple streams that are aligned with the Express Entry system. An increasing number of nominations are being offered by these streams to candidates in Express Entry in recent years, as quoted by the CIC News.

Streams that are not linked with the Express Entry system are also referred to as ‘base’ streams for nomination. A job offer in Canada is undoubtedly an asset. However, there are several 'base' and enhanced nomination streams that do need a job offer.

Several of the most renowned Canada PNPs offer ITAs as the first step in the process of nomination. Only those candidates who receive invitations to apply can submit applications for Provincial Nomination. Also, full applications have to be submitted within specified deadlines otherwise they will not be valid.

Candidates who are successful in their application for Provincial nomination through and stream aligned with Express Entry or base stream are awarded 600 extra CRS points. They will thus receive an ITA to Apply for Canada PR Visa in the succeeding draw held in the Express Entry pool.
