How to Immigrate to Canadian Province of New Brunswick?

New Brunswick, known for its huge untouched wilderness, and lobsters mirrors the trend in Canada.

According to Statistics Canada’s latest Labor Force Survey, the country has added more than 32,000 jobs in November. Jobs are booming in Canada after the country has opened its borders and resumed back to its normal state economically. Among these, the province of New Brunswick solely added 1,300 jobs in November, due to which the unemployment rate dropped from 9.1 to 8.5 percent.

Latest provincial outlook, TD Economists In their latest provincial outlook, TD economists Beata Caranci, Derek Burleton, Rishi Sondhi, and Omar Abdelrahman forecast the province will have seen real GDP growth of 3.6 percent by the end of this year and will then be poised to grow its economy by 2.6 per cent next year.

There are downturns in a few sectors throughout the pandemic, but the consumer confidence in New Brunswick remained strong in the positive trends in retail purchases and in restaurants purchases.

Revival In Hiring Forecast

The province of New Brunswick has joined other provinces recently in announcing the vaccine passport. Immigration to the province is increasing steadily, as per the records from IRCC.

Premier Signals Importance of Immigration with New Minister

Later in September 2021, Premier Blaine Higgs recognized the importance of immigration to rebuild the economy in New Brunswick and appointed Arlene Dunn as their new immigration Minister. Inviting new immigrants to the province is crucial for the economic and social vibrancy of our province.

The province has recently announced that it will invite 7,500 new permanent residents by 2024. The province is expected to fill 120,000 new jobs in the coming decade, which also includes 1,300 nursing positions.

Immigration is picking up in 2021

After the pandemic, the immigrants settling in New Brunswick are far below. Hence the immigration minister decided to pick up these by increasing the number of immigrants along with PR to the province.

In 2021, the first nine months, the province welcomed 10.2 percent more PRs compared to 2020. The province has invited 4,253 new permanent residents this year.

Candidates eligibility is based on the following five categories:

  • New Brunswick Express Entry stream
  • New Brunswick Skilled Worker stream
  • New Brunswick Skilled Worker stream for Truck Drivers
  • New Brunswick Entrepreneurial stream
  • New Brunswick Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial stream

New Brunswick Express Entry Stream

This stream targets candidates with profiles in the federal Express Entry pool with skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the provincial economy.

The profiles in the Express Entry pool are analyzed by the following six factors:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Language Skills
  • Work Experience
  • Job Offer
  • Adaptability

The New Brunswick, Skilled Worker Stream, is for candidates between 19 to 55 years having full-time job opportunities from an employer in New Brunswick. This was launched in October 2020, in order to deal with the labor shortage. This also covers the candidates who fall under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code of 7511.

Eligibility requirements for New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream

The eligibility requirements include:

  • Two years of work experience in the last five, with nine months in New Brunswick
  • A full-time, permanent trucking job
  • Have a valid New Brunswick Class 1 Driving License and intend to live in the province.

While the entrepreneurs who want to immigrate to New Brunswick can choose the NB PNP Entrepreneurial Stream.

How can foreign nationals get Permanent Residency? 

Candidates aged between 22 and 55 have a right connection with the New Brunswick and a minimum two-year, post-secondary education degree or diploma who score at least level 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark exam for speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English or French.

Entrepreneurs who are ready to invest $250,000 of their $600,000 or even more in a New Brunswick business and take ownership of at least 33 percent of it. The experienced entrepreneurs or managers have to ink a Business Performance Agreement with the province by paying a deposit of $100,000.

First step: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)

Second step: Wait to be sent an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

Third step: They will have 90 days to submit an immigration application to the province immigration department.

Fourth step: Sign the Business Performance Agreement and deposit of $100,000 to the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training, and Labor.

New Brunswick Post-Graduate Entrepreneurial Stream

This stream is for international graduates having degrees from certified New Brunswick universities or community colleges. These students should be aged between 22 to 40 years. They should have started or acquired a New Brunswick business and need to be operated for last year while holding a Post-Graduation Work Permit.

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot, an employer-driven group of three programs:

  • Atlantic High-Skilled Program
  • Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program
  • Atlantic International Graduate Program

Atlantic Immigration Pilot offers 3 programs for workers

The Atlantic High-Skilled Program focuses on skilled workers with

  • Management
  • Professional
  • Technical/Skilled Job Experience for one year

The persons who offer permanent jobs requiring a high school education and/or job-specific training can apply under the Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program. Every job offer is made through the AIP requires provincial endorsement. The employer handles this application after the candidate submits his Settlement Plan.
