USA to Canada immigration in 2023

Express Entry

Candidates who want to migrate as a skilled worker need to apply through the Express Entry system. Candidates are invited through the Express Entry system on the basis of points. Applicants need to score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 to become eligible to apply for a Canada PR visa. There are many factors and points are allotted accordingly. There are three programs under Express Entry through which candidates can submit applications. These programs are

Each Express Entry draw comes with a cut off score. Applicants need to have an equal or a higher score than the cut off score to apply through the Express Entry. Canada held 2 Express Entry draws in 2023 and invited 11,000 candidates. The details can be found in the table below:

There is no need to have a job offer to apply through Express Entry. But if you have one, you can get points from 50 to 200. Express Entry system is also available in different provinces of Canada. If you apply through a Provincial Nominee Program, you will get 600 points automatically. For each Express Entry draw, CRS score is changed. Currently, it is below 500.

Eligibility criteria for Express Entry

Your age need to be below 45 years
You need to have at least a Bachelor’s degree.
Proof of language through IELTS, CELPIP, and PTE
You should not have any criminal history
You should clear your medical examinations

Steps to apply through the Express Entry

You have to go through many steps to apply through Express Entry. These steps are:

Create and complete your Express Entry profile
Go for an ECA certificate
Go for Language proficiency tests and get the results
CRS score has to be calculated
Wait for an Invitation to apply

Cost of Express Entry

You will have to pay the cost of applying through Express Entry which is CAD 2,300 for a single applicant. If couple has to migrate to Canada through Express Entry, the fee is CAD 4,500. Here is the breakdown of the cost:

The cost of biometrics is $85 per applicant
Government fee for per adult is CAD 1,325 and for per chid CAD 225

Provincial Nominee Program

Each province of Canada holds Provincial Nominee Program draws to invite candidates. Their main aim to invite candidates is to meet the skills shortage in different sectors. Candidates have to meet the requirements to apply under the PNPs.
