The Consulate General of India, Jeddah, is moving to a new location near Tahlia Street and consular services would be affected during the shifting process. Indian Consulate in Jeddah shifting to Tahlia Street
The consulate in a press statement has said that the passport and visa sections will remain closed on March 17 and 18 on account of this shifting. Applications for prospective passport/visa/consular services would not be entertained on these days, and the applicants are requested to plan their applications accordingly. The statement also said that the reason for the shifting was that the current location is vulnerable to flooding. During the disastrous flooding in 2010 and 2011, the consulate lost many records and the damage ran into hundreds of thousands of rupees.  Hence it was decided to shift the chancery to a safer location as instructed by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. The search for a suitable place for the consulate was on for some time. When the current Consul General Faiz Ahmed Kidwai took over, he promised that full efforts would be made to shift the consulate to a more spacious and suitable building in the new year. That promise is now being fulfilled. The Consulate General of India is being shifted to the following address: Villa No. 34, Behind National Commercial Bank, Near Al Huda Mosque, Tahlia Street, Jeddah. The building is at a walkable distance from the main road. The shifting would be over by end of this month and regular activities of the consulate will start from April 2012. The contact telephone numbers and other details will be intimated to the general public very soon. Last date for MRPs The Consulate General of India, Jeddah, has said that the revised deadline for accepting handwritten passports for issue of visas by Saudi embassies and consulates and for immigration purposes is Nov. 24, 2015, and not Nov. 24, 2012 as stated earlier. For any assistance and further information, Indian nationals under the consulate’s jurisdiction can contact the passport wing. 8 Mar 2012
