Study in Paris

Travelling to Paris for study? To begin with, the luggage can prove to be a nuisance.

Instead of shoving assorted and numerous pieces of clothing into your bags, a much saner, not to say more practical, the alternative would be to simply travel as light as possible.

Once in Paris, a trip to any vintage shop can solve your clothing issues. Kilo Shop with its famous tagline “Choisissez, Pesez, Emportez (Select, Weigh, Take It)” is an immense hit with tourists.

Located in the very heart of Paris, near the Hotel De Ville to be precise, the shop lets you purchase reasonably priced clothes at good quality, that too, by weight. Yes, you did read that right.

Similarly, to minimize the risk of your toiletries leaking through, simply get some travel containers from TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Fill them up with the basic quantity that you might require for a couple of days. Later, you can go to Monoprix or any supermarket to stock up.

Monoprix is quite popular with those interested in buying beauty products at a much cheaper rate as compared to the U.S. You can also head towards City Pharma – located on the corner of Rue du Four and Rue Bonaparte – the only discounted parapharmacy that you can find in Paris. A parapharmacy is an innovative combination of pharmacy, homoeopathy, and beauty store.

A basic understanding of the French language will also stand you in good stead. Try mobile applications like Coffee Break French or Duolingo. Practising by interacting with the locals is also helpful, as quoted by the Times of India.

While in Paris, take time out to explore the City of Lights. There is a lot that you can do in the city itself. Interesting places in Paris worth visiting are – the Tour de Eiffel, the Palace of Fontainebleau, Sacre Coeur Basilica, and the famous Monets Garden in Giverny.

While in Paris for study purposes, do remember to avail student discounts, wherever applicable. Unlike the U.S. where “youth” pricings are only till the age of 18, in Paris you can avail the same till 26.

Many monuments and museums in Paris either offer Free Entry at all times or can be visited free of charge on certain specified days.

Regardless of the reason behind your Paris visit, never forget to savour all that the city has to offer. Sip the café au lait. Enjoy the croissant. A bientôt à Paris!!
