Spain sets up new Visa AMS for Schengen Visa

The Foreign Affairs Ministry in Spain has assigned a technology firm Tecnologias Plexus SL to develop a fresh system for management of Schengen Visa appointments. The company will be liable for the management of online appointments across 129 offices located overseas. This is inclusive of one office situated in Madrid.

 

It has been reported by Europa Press the Spanish news agency that the worth of the contract is € 89,460. The Foreign Affairs Minister in Spain Josep Borell elaborated on the contract for Schengen Visa Appointment Management System. He said that the services will be enhanced to build the brand of Spain in the overseas market.

 

The Foreign Affairs Minister in Spain Josep Borell has also made a public acknowledgement in an appearance in the Senate. He has said that the Consulates of Spain are saturated. They require more resources and staff, added the Minister, as quoted by the Morocco World News.

 

The focus of the Minister during his last visit to Morocco was on the Consulate in Casablanca. The appointments for Visa at this Consulate have been delayed. The applicants of Schengen Visa are facing waiting times of 6 months. This is because the Spanish computer systems are “beleaguered.”

 

One more objective of the new system by the Ministry is to eradicate any possible frauds. It also aims to offer unhindered access to services of the Consulate without any intervention from the 3rd parties.

 

The Foreign Affairs Minister in Spain is already having a contract with the BLS. This is for processing Visa covering 58 offices of the Consulate of Spain.

 

The current contract with BLS also includes AMS for Schengen Visa applications. This will not be affected by the fresh contract concluded with Tecnologias Plexus SL.
