Student VisaHere’s another change in the student visa policy, effecting countries around the world like Australia and Canada. These changes are directed towards multiple aspects of the student visa. Although change is seen in the positive light, no one is able to predict what these bring about. To understand this,  Business Review Australia is monitoring these changes closely. A change with an unpredictable effect Apart from the question on the consequences these changes are likely to bring, a question is being raised on the necessity of the rules all together. Implemented on the 13th of July, these immigration rules prevent foreign students from extending their visa to stay for a longer period after the completion of their course. The intension behind this change According to the Minister of State for Immigration, Mr. James Brokenshire, this is a method being used to keep a check on migration while attempting to prevent immigration abuse. Along with this, it is also their aim to maintain the standards at world class universities. Students who wish to stay longer, must apply from outside the country. From now on, student visas will be valid for not three but only two years. As mentioned above, extension is prohibited unless one can show a formal link with the university. The issue has divided the concerned people into two groups debating over the necessity in the change of immigration rules. The difference of opinion One group of people argue that foreign students have more to give than to take when they come. They opine that, international students add to the country’s economy in all the activities they do. So, whether it is paying rent, dining at restaurants or taking part in city activities, they are only making the host country richer. However, this is just one side of the story. The other side narrates the story of job stealing. This group of people reveal how all the jobs are being taken by international students after their course, leaving only the low cadre jobs for the ones born and brought up in the host country.
