The UK becomes a destination of choice for Indians

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows an increase in the number of Indian applicants for UK Visas. The number of student visa sees a growth for the third consecutive year.

The data shared by the ONS said that there was an increase of 10 percent in the number of UK Visas for Indians. Around 550,925 of them were given a UK Visa. The data also showed that Indians continue opting the UK for their vacation as the number of Visit visas by Indians increased by 10 percent to 454,658. The Tier 4 Visas saw a whopping 32 percent increase, where 15,390 Indian students were granted the Visa.

The number of Indian students who visited the UK to complete their short-term study increased to 6,500. India is also said to have received over 60,000 Work Visas in 2017.

Sir Dominic Asquith, the British High Commissioner to India, had announced the above-said figures in August 2018. He said that the number of Indians in the UK have been increasing and these numbers support the fact further. He further said that more and more Indians are opting the UK to either study, work or visit.

India has been seeing an increase in the number of immigrants to the country. The government is making the immigration process simpler to support economic growth and commercial growth. She further added that with the introduction of e-Tourist visas and e-Business visas, there has been a massive increase in the number of visitors from all over the world. This has not only improved the business ecosystem but also has made it easier for organizations to decide on relocations.

They include-Business, IVFRT, e-Tourist, e-Medical visas to 166 countries, digitization of the In-country and biometrics at Indian missions abroad. It also includes a registration process, and visa renewals, removing document submission, the introduction of Consular Services Management System addressing complaints of Indians abroad, and many more.
