UK Visas & Immigration launches Visit UK Video for first-time applicants

In order to educate aspiring travellers and the trade about the online visa application process to the UK, and to convey that the UK visa is easy to obtain, the UK Visas & Immigration has launched Visit UK Video. The video has been uploaded on the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FBO) platform as well as social media channels like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. The purpose, according to Nick Crouch, Regional Director – South & South East Asia, UK Visas & Immigration, is to make people “understand the online process”, and “encourage good applicants” to visit destination UK.

“We are getting encouraging feedback ever since we launched the video this week,” Crouch stated, adding that the video has helped debunk the myth that the UK visa is difficult to get, he added. “The process is simple, quick, and easy. We believe that we offer an excellent visa service,” he said.

James Bevan, British High Commissioner to India, said, “Our visa system is designed to make it as straightforward as possible for customers to apply for their visas. This video is another example of the improvements we are making to the visa service to make it quicker and easier for Indian visitors to apply for a UK visa.”

Crouch said that the 15% growth in visa issuance to Indian in the 12 months  to June this year is testimony to the “excellent” processing system that is being offered to travellers. He informed that 3.5 lakh visas were issued for India during the said period. “India is one of the top markets for the UK and we want more and more tourists to visit our destination,” he said.

Commenting on the turnaround time for the UK visa, Crouch said that while the standard turnaround time is 15 days, the average time that was achieved last year for processing was 6 days. For people who have travelled to the UK in the past, priority (within 5 days) and super priority (same day) services are also provided, he added.

Crouch went on to say that the agency constantly work towards improving the visa processing, after taking feedback from travellers as well as the trade after every peak season.
